Barringer F. Wingard, Jr. Col (R) US ARMY

A South Carolinian since birth, Barry Wingard has dedicated his life to serving his nation, community, and fellow citizens. Following distinguished careers in the SC National Guard and US Army of more than 37 years (more than 22 on active duty), he continues to display his strong patriotism to his nation and selfless service to his fellow citizens.

South Carolina, especially District 63 in Florence County, is fortunate that Barry has now decided to channel his energy into making South Carolina a better place. He has repeatedly demonstrated his desire to improve his community with volunteer endeavors such as the Friends of the Florence County Library where he served as co-chair of fundraising for the Drs. Bruce & Lee Library and currently serves on the Friends Board of Directors. Barry is also on Florence Rotary Club Board of Directors, one the community's most active service organizations.

Barry's most passionate cause is education. He considers education the lynchpin and remedy to SC's foremost concerns - jobs, crime, healthcare. He cares intensely about veterans, the military, and their families. He is Chariman, Dedication Ceremony for the new Veterans Park; assists in organizing the annual Pee Dee Patriotic Parade; served as a governor's appointee to the SC Veterans Memorial Committee; and often provides meaningful speeches at schools, parks and Pee Dee area patriotic events.
